Patron Code of Conduct 

Respect staff and other patrons
Parents/caregivers must supervise children
Leave the library at closing time and during emergencies 

Understand the library is a shared public place
Be responsible for own property and personal belongings
Maintain personal hygiene
Leave food and drinks at the main tables
Dispose of garbage and recycling appropriately 

Adhere to library policy
Return items on or before the due date
Follow staff direction
Abide by library policy regarding internet use, fees, fines, procedures of use 

Behave appropriately for the library environment
Use computers quietly
Only one person per computer or chair
Study or read to self quietly
Share quiet conversations 

You will be asked to leave for the following:
Consuming alcohol or drugs on the premises or before entering
Using offensive, threatening, harassing or abusive language or gestures to staff or patrons
Damaging, defacing or misusing library materials equipment or facilities
Persistent disturbance to other patrons’ use of the library 

You are welcome back for the following:
Smiling or sharing a laugh with the librarian
Listening to the help that is freely given
Showing care for other patrons
Adhering to the Patron Code of Conduct


Statutory Holidays

The library is closed for the statutory Holidays:

  • Labour Day
  • Good Friday
  • Thanksgiving
  • Easter Monday
  • Remembrance Day
  • Victoria Day
  • Christmas Day
  • Boxing Day
  • Dominion Day
  • Civic Holiday
  • Family Day
  • Aboriginal Day


Retired Students

A student who has retired from the school will be allowed to use the library during non-school hours. Please see the posted Library hours.

Suspended Students

A student who is suspended from school will not be allowed to use the library during school hours.


Children Under the Age of 12

The Wikwemikong Public Library policy regarding children left unattended in the library states:

While the Wikwemikong Public Library welcomes children using the library services, parents and / or guardians of children requiring supervision are reminded that small children under the age of 12 years should not be left unattended in or about the library premises. Children are the responsibility of their parents / guardians.

Please stay with your small children while you are in the library and do not leave them in the care of the librarian.
